Hey!

Do you ever stop to consider the environmental impact of your product packaging? If not, you should. A survey revealed that nearly 39% of consumers consider the environmental impact of product packaging extremely or very important in their purchasing decisions. That's a large chunk of the population taking a stand for the environment, creating a ripple effect that reaches companies and businesses worldwide.

General Consumer Concerns

Approximately 63% of consumers have shown they're less likely to buy products with non-recyclable packaging. These numbers clearly show a trend that's impossible to ignore: people are becoming more aware and concerned about the environmental impact of their consumption habits. 🌍

Environmental Impact and Waste Generation

Every time you pop open a can of soda, tear into a packet of chips, or unwrap a new gadget, have you ever wondered where all that packaging waste ends up? You might have a niggling suspicion that it isn't just disappearing into thin air. Here’s the harsh truth: It’s wreaking havoc on our environment.

General Packaging Waste

Zero waste is a goal we could only dream of. Still, with your help and increased awareness about packaging waste, we can surely make strides. Surprisingly, in the US, the recycling rate of packaging waste stood at just 53.9% in 2018 💡. Even though that number appears promising, it still indicates that almost half of our packaging waste is not recycled!

The environmental impact of this magnitude of waste is enormous. Packaging waste can take hundreds of years to decompose entirely. During that time, it pollutes our soil, water, and air, and impacts wildlife. Moreover, it significantly contributes to our planet's carbon footprint because packaging accounts for about 5% of the energy used in the life cycle of a food product.

Plastic Packaging Waste

The situation becomes even more startling as we delve into the realm of plastic packaging waste. Approximately 36% of all plastics produced are used in packaging 😱. Considering the longevity and lack of biodegradability of most plastics, this figure is shocking. This means an alarming amount of non-recyclable, non-degradable waste enters our environment daily.

Unlike paper or cardboard, plastic packaging waste does not merely sit stationary in landfills. Thanks to its lightweight structure and resistance to degradation, it frequently finds its way into our ecosystems. Once there, it poses a severe threat to wildlife, often mistaken for food or becoming a physical hazard.

The issue of packaging waste, especially plastic packaging waste, is one that requires urgent attention. We all have the power to change things By making conscious choices when purchasing and disposing of products, we can help shape the course of this narrative for the better. After all, we only have one planet – it's time we started treating it with the respect it deserves. 🌍

Through our sustainable journey, we've enlightened ourselves on the impact our product packaging has on the environment and the role we as consumers play. Not only do we now appreciate the significance of environmental concerns on our purchasing decisions, but we also understand that sustainable packaging is an investment worth making.

From a brand perspective, DABA has understood the importance of integrating environmental preservation into its core business values and has successfully incorporated it into one of the essential aspects of its products - the packaging. Reflecting sustainability in our design approach, by using sugarcane biodegradable packaging, we selected a solution that has less impact on the environment, mirroring our overall commitment to the planet and showcasing our values to our customers.
