The Founders

We're David and Babatope, co-founders of DABA. People often ask us what DABA means. Honestly, it’s a mash up of the first two letters from both our names. So, DA + BA = DABA!

We’ve both had our struggles with skincare. Acne during puberty, severely dry skin, struggles with finding the right grooming products as adults… you name it! Then we noticed it wasn’t a problem for only us. Our friends also complained about having similar issues and being lost on what to do. So we took on the challenge to make it possible for men like us to find the perfect solutions for their needs.

DABA was started to make it possible for men with melanin-rich to find simple and safe products that they can use to protect their most vital organ: the skin!

2020

The birth of an idea. We started brainstorming how to produce skincare products after realising we couldn't find any for ourselves.

2021

Began our formulation journey, testing products and packaging.

2022

Completed our development and conducted necessary tests.

2023

We finally launched our long-awaited bodycare essentials.

2024

We came first place in the Black Hair & Beauty Magazine Emerging Beauty Brand Awards at Afro Hair & Beauty Live and won the Foundervine Immerse Early Stage Pitch.

At DABA, we develop products using our human-centered, science-first approach. Before developing any product, we talk to our customers to understand the problems they want to solve. Then, we look into the science to find solutions. Our ingredients are selected after a rigorous review of published scientific research. We work with our Scientific Advisors to fine-tune the formulas and ensure our products reach the highest scientific standards.
